Catherine (Cathy) Dreyer, 61, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away surrounded by family on July 13 after a courageous fight with cancer. Born in France on May 23, 1962, she was the beloved daughter to the late Elizabeth (Betty) and Raymond (Ray) Gaier.
Growing up in Dayton, in a military household, Cathy followed in her parent’s footsteps and proudly served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army. She worked at St. John the Baptist School for over 15 years. She dedicated her time to helping the school with many events including the Fish Fry, Parish Chicken Dinner, and Parish Festival. Cathy spent many Friday mornings going to Panera before school, which she jokingly called the bar, with her co-workers.
Cathy was a devoted wife and mother, and loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed the beach and sitting by the pool. Loved watching the Cincinnati Reds and enjoyed going to the Xavier Basketball games with her husband Phil. She was an avid Browns fan amongst a household of Bengals fans.
Cathy is survived by her loving husband Phil of 31 years; her three children Amanda, Tyler, and Sarah; her siblings Ray (Colleen) Gaier, Patti (Kelly) Blakely, Jeff (Chris-Anne) Gaier, Jeanne (Mike) Cregan, Theresa (Denny) Denlinger, and Greg (Trisha) Gaier. Many nieces and nephews and many relatives of the Dreyer family.
Visitation to be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 5361 Dry Ridge Road, on Tuesday, July 18 at 10:30am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00pm. Reception to follow in St. John the Baptist School’s Parish Center also known as the Gymnasium. All are welcome to attend.
Burial to take place at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery on Friday, July 21st, at 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John the Baptist School, Dry Ridge.
