It's the atmosphere they cultivate in the shire, where everything feels peaceful and friendly. Genuinely some of my favourite parts of the triology are just the idyllic parts in the Shire.

My favorite scene is when Frodo is waking up at the end of the last movie. The Hobbits are bouncing up and down on the bed and other charachters are cheering and smiling. Then Sam shows up and the look they give each other is so deep and meaningful. Like if Sam had reacted like Merry and Pippin did it would have been wrong. Some of the best movies ever made.

it's the vibe of the shire and the way frodo lights up when he sees gandalf

Yeah it's a miracle they pulled that off filming so close to Hamilton

i used to watch movies like LotR, the 13th warrior, gladiator and pathfinder alot when i was younger with my dad because we didnt get much time together. the scenic views and long pan shots over beautiful mountains while travel were always my favorite bits. whenever i see a scenic view i wanna show my dad. the shire genuinely feels like a place id call home to me.

This is 100% correct. The shire is meant to be home, it's meant to be England. Somewhere you can always leave to adventure but always return to, because it's home. It's a feeling that exists in all of us as English, because we all know a Gandalf and we all are Frodo. The shire is the greatest setting in literary history because it's ironically not fictional, just a translation for a deeply held feeling in the hearts of everyone. Those who have rejected this magical feeling, either on purpose or by accident, are always deeply unsettled in an extremely tragic way.

221B Baker Street, the Shire, the Secret Garden, the Hundred Acre Woods, Alice's Wonderland, Queen Mab's Kensington Gardens... Britain is, via books, a beloved homeland to a lot of people like me who've never been there. What MAGNIFICENT books your people produced! The Romans taught people to read, but the British taught them to enjoy it.

This is an incredible statement, and one of the best thing I've ever seen written by an American about us. Thank you.

Therein lies the problem. DEI is the antithesis of British literature.

it's always kinda fascinating how out of order movies are shot, it of course is dictated by time/logistics and optimization but it must be a little bit weird for actors.

And a weta crawled up Elijah Wood's leg and broke his (Elijah Wood's, not the cricket's) toe. They used that shot for the final cut, and that's why he (Elijah Wood) looks so screwed up.

God damn, I love that Aragorn and Lurtz are fighting hand to hand and its not going 100% to Aragon, showing Lurtz crude and effective brawling. But as soon as its sword play its all Aragorn, and quick. Such a great scene

Gosh darn, this scene still makes me tear up.
The way he took the second arrow, fading, see the people he is protecting and just keep dragging his limb to fight is too much for me.
