Oh well guys, you said I should waffle about this topic today and it's today now so. Cavirfi is currently having a debate on iPad kids, should I continue?

@Raphaelle Cortez: For as long as you don't go too far with your argument, I'm interested, sorry I kinda just ignored your rant in the group chat because I was busy with work so yeah I'd love to read what you have to say.

@Greener Beaner: Hey it's fine, I don't usually read what you say in the group chat from Mondays to Thursdays because I have to work for Sunny and do university sh*t. I'm fine with repeating the whole rant if you want to read it.

So, last Saturday, I was reading some article by the Barnumberg Bulletin and Cavirfi was basically having some debate over iPad kids and the like and there were this conference of people and they were literally proposing like the most dystopian ahh solution to this "problem" which they do not even have sources for that it is a problem in Cavirfi. Like I know the literacy rates among the kids in America and other English-speaking countries is bad but like Cavirfi and Crabaiaia are more akin to Singapore and South Korea in terms of education and how difficult our education system is like I graduated High School around July 2021, close to 5 months after I turned 18 and I still remember how difficult Grade 12 Math and Science were like what the hell, I still question how I passed those to this day like man I forgot everything about it except for some of the physics which I need for animation class at art school.

Anyways, the dystopian solution being proposed in the conference is that basically the government takes away all mobile devices of kids under the age of 13 or at the very least put severe restrictions on their screentime. The solution also recommends that the Cavirfite government be authorized to like arrest parents if their children were skipping class too many times and it recommended surveillance for all purchases from a juice box to Minecraft made by someone under the age of 18. Which, I don't think I have to tell you how terribly dystopian that is especially given that 80% of Grade 10 students in Cavirfi can read at first-year university level compared to a lot of similarly aged students in the United States who tend to read at or below grade level. It's such a non-issue for Cavirfi yet they are treating iPad kids as a problem for I don't know why, apparently the guy who headed these conferences saw like a few iPad kids at a restaurant and he was like not having it. Like what?! A well-adjusted person would just ignore these kids at those restaurants especially if they live in a country where iPad kids aren't really a problem, not turn it into a new political issue.

What makes it worse is that the Cavirfite government actually seems to be interested in turning this plan into reality which is like so unwise given that they literally just let the Barnumberg government crack down on a student protest like a week ago (I mean, we were at the Cavirfite Embassy like two Fridays ago protesting against the crackdown, remember?). Luckily the students managed to repel the Police from cracking down on them and continued to protest.

@Raphaelle Cortez: I did some reading about the article you seemed to be talking about (is it this one?) and I did some research on the guy in the article that you seem to be talking about and he seems to run a newsletter and in that newsletter, he linked two articles about two iPad kids that were investigated by the Barnumberg Police as part of a health and wellness report made by relevant people. Both cases were in the same week.

The first article was released on May 28 this year, the restaurant basically reported that an iPad kid had been playing on his iPad for over 6 hours at a dinner table without his parents ever being present. When the restaurant's staff couldn't find the parents, they resorted to calling the Barnumberg Police who then kept the kid detained at the dinner table and used surveillance cameras to discover that the parents had actually left the restaurant and went home in the 6 hours that the kid was on his iPad so using the license plate caught on the camera, the Barnumberg Police tracked down the parents and called them saying that they left the kid behind and so the parents drove back to the restaurant and the kid went home, the parents were not charged with anything as the incident was not considered a crime in Barnumberg or at the federal level in Cavirfi.

The second article was released about half a week later at the start of June, basically the neighbors of some iPad kid called the cops on him because everyday for a few years or so, they would just see the kid in his bedroom or at some random part of their house. When the Police arrived, the parents confessed that the kid was not going to school for 3 years that they had arrived in Cavirfi around April 2021 but for the entire time, he was not going to school and was on his iPad the entire time. The parents explained that the kid was on a "mental health" break that had been "extended" for quite a long time. The Police were having none of it but they could not arrest the parents since again, they did not actually do anything that was illegal under Barnumberg or Cavirfite federal law.

As far as I know, this debate on iPad kids in Cavirfi is clearly focused on preventing those two incidents from happening again and not focused on the issue of education.

And yes, I do remember when we protested against the crackdown near the Cavirfite embassy. Your speech was lit!

Raphaelle Cortez Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Greener Beaner: Firstly, my speech was not lit, no one heard it because they were all cheering at the fact that someone (which happened to me) was speaking and not giving time to actually listen to what I have to say.

Secondly, no. The iPad kid debate in Cavirfi is definitely focused on education, the guy who headed the conferences literally said so himself and the fact that so many teachers are at his conferences and the fact that they literally discussed banning phones in schools should point to how obviously educationally-centred this debate was.

Third, those were just two incidents in a country of six billion people which the incidents were clearly caused by the parents being neglectful. Making laws against iPad kids in response to those two incidents is the equivalent of banning all buses in a city of thirty million because two bus drivers, who were probably not licensed to drive a bus, made a very huge mistake that caused a massive traffic delay.

Lastly, as a federation, it's very clear that this issue is something that should be legislated at a Barnumberg level considering both incidents happened in Barnumberg and not at a Cavirfi level where all six billion Cavirfites will be affected by legislation proposed by the federal government who has taken an interest in this issue. Honestly, none of these issues would have happened if the Lord of Barnumberg took an interest in the wellbeing of his region's children and just the region's people in general rather than dedicating time to promoting apartheid in Australia and it spreading to Southeast Asia and New Zealand.

And yes, that is the article I am talking about.

@Raphaelle Cortez: The crowd didn't cheer for you until close to the end of your speech, it was lit.

There are iPad kids everywhere in Cavirfi, would it not make sense for the federal government there to legislate for the whole country? They have stringent parenting laws there afterall, even requiring a license to be one whether as a biological parent or as an adoptive one.

I won't argue that the Lord of Barnumberg has the wrong priorities. He is the guy that made a carpark regulation law that only exists because of a person rivalry he has with a mall owner afterall and I especially think that him being an apartheid supporter is absolutely horrendous but, babe, how was the guy supposed to know up until the point of the police reports that this situation was happening? In the eyes of Jonska and Ellen, given this topic seems to be reserved for them; using two parental neglect cases to basically slander a guy for being an apartheid supporter is not exactly a good argument.

@Greener Beaner: This topic has been an issue since the West started debating it like late last year, if this guy has access to the Internet which I know he does since he is a known booster of the Cavirfite government's Discord server. He should've known damn well that there was an iPad kid debate in the West and should've acted on it when he could in case it was happening in Barnumberg given the number of American migrants there and the number of American families who have trauma from the financial consequences of COVID-19. But of course, the Lord has decided once again that anti-apartheid activists are more of a problem to society than literal bad parenting.

Greener Beaner Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Raphaelle Cortez: Look, babe. I know that especially because you're Filipino that the apartheid in Australia and the spreading to Southeast Asia and New Zealand stuff is pretty sensitive to you but that issue is not that much in the Lord's agenda compared to other issues like not losing the confidence of the federal government who could depose him if they so wish whether by a vote in the legislature or a military coup or, for petty reasons that dispute with the mall guy, and of course a bunch of university students.

REPLY
Raphaelle Cortez Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Greener Beaner: *sigh* I guess you're right but like why? Why is this guy who's clearly ruling in his own interests allowed to reign over the most economically and culturally important region in Cavirfi? Why can't the federal government just depose him already? Oh yeah that's right because they actually support him. This is why I hate the Cavirfite government and I'm not surprised at all why Ultra Ranakic United, despite being the most NiceGuy of NiceGuys, want Cavirfi entirely abolished and either annexed by Crabaiaia or split into eight countries.

REPLY
Greener Beaner Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Raphaelle Cortez: A federal government letting a bad governor stay in power is not a case for a country's literal dissolution and I find it concerning that you seem to be lukewarm to that idea.

REPLY
Raphaelle Cortez Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Greener Beaner: I don't support the abolition of Cavirfi, I just want Cavirfi to actually stick to its promises of being a NiceGuy state. Are you surprised that a country that claims to be THE NiceGuy state but does absolutely nothing when it comes time to help NiceGuys in a country that commits apartheid against them has its own people in other country calling for its abolition?

REPLY
Greener Beaner Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Raphaelle Cortez: Hmmm, I'm glad you put it that way because I actually am not surprised now, thanks babe, you are quite the good debate artist ngl. I don't think it should be abolished either and like you, I am frustrated it's doing nothing but still I find abolition to be too extreme of an idea.

I cannot believe you ladies are actually not horrified by the desire for the literal end of countries. The dissolution of the Korean Empire and its annexation by Japan and subsequent partition post-WW2 did wonders for Korean peace, didn't it?

REPLY
Raphaelle Cortez Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Sunshine Lavender: Hey buddy, you are a good person and all but we don't want Cavirfi to be abolished, we both just said that and also you don't engage in politics so why are you chiming in to this debate.

REPLY
Sunshine Lavender Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Raphaelle Cortez: I am not saying you guys support abolishing Cavirfi but you guys are not as horrified by the idea as I am. That's six billion people being divided, that's gonna spark a war. It's not a political take to say that abolishing countries against their will is bad for peace, it's common sense.

REPLY
Raphaelle Cortez Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Sunshine Lavender: It's nonsensical to wish for Cavirfi's abolition but when it lies about its purpose in the world, you would understand why a lot of ultra-NiceGuys want it abolished.

REPLY
Sunshine Lavender Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Raphaelle Cortez: No, I still don't. There are six billion people in that country going about their lives; listening to music, watcing movies, hanging out with their friends, playing games, making art, studying, working, biking, hiking, etc. and you're fine with people wanting those lives to be disrupted because some governor there advertised a movie? You're a good person but Rafie, you are tolerating some very bad ideas.

REPLY
Raphaelle Cortez Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Sunshine Lavender: Maybe if Cavirfi doesn't want their lives disrupted how about they actually live to their promises?

REPLY
Sunshine Lavender Laker City, Crabaiaia

@Raphaelle Cortez: Because CAVIRFI did not make promises, CAVIRFITE POLITICIANS did. Criticize them all you want for breaking those promises but when you're fine with people wanting CAVIRFI to end and using dehumanizing language like "abolish" as if Cavirfi is akin to some legal but immoral practice and treating six billion people of all cultures, fandoms, hobbies, etc. as a monolith then idk what to tell you.
